About the 17th Piano Duo Competition
Composition Section 2012 Contest, Concour
Composition competition was established to develop the performance of piano duo and encourage rising composers and their activities in this field.

*This time, the competition is hold to collect duo works as a set of piece for the 18th performance competition.

*Qualifications
*No restrictions as to nationality, age and education.

*Pieces Music Applicable
Only pieces that have never been publicly presented may be submitted.

*Piano duo pieces which can be played with four hands, even using one piano or two pianos.
*** It means that you should write music for one piano 4 hands, so that players will be able to play it with two piano 4 hands too.
*Length: 4 minutes~ 6 minutes.

*Note: Free arrangement or "theme and variations" are all right.

*Deadline of Application
The application, fee, and wok must be reached us by March 1, 2012 without fail.

*Elimination: 24 March 2012.
Not opened.
Judged by playing 2~3 pages of the scores and then score reading.
We will inform the finalist on our home page by 26 March.

*Final: Judged by playing and open concert style.
13 May 2012, at Yamaha artist services Tokyo, Ginza Japan.
Award ceremony will be after the final contest on the same day.

We will inform the result and the name of judges in a week after the final cotest, on our home page.


*Prizes, Awards
Superior Prize (Grand Prix): 300.000Yen
This prize winning work will be used as a set of piece for the 18th Piano duo competition.

Encouragement Awards: 30,000 Yen, for some works.
Special audience award

2) Freely chosen pieces, any original pieces, abut 10 minutes.(you can choose the same piece at the Elimination Round.
* No repeat. 1) & 2) may be cut on the way.
